The Independent Schools Magazine

The Independent Schools Magazine

The Independent Schools Magazine (ISM) is published nine times a year online and in-print. Combining news, opinion, and information of interest to decision-makers and opinion-formers throughout the fee-paying independent education sector.

Run and produced by an experienced team of editorial, publishing, and advertising specialists, I have proofread issues of the magazine a few days prior to publication.

TillmanPress

TillmanPress is an independent graphic design and book arts press based in South London that collaborates with artists to represent the originality and inspiration behind their work. I copyedited Tillman Press Meets (note: the space between ‘Tillman’ and ‘Press’ is intentional), a handprinted series of zines that publishes long-form interviews with artists, the first issue (pictured) being a conversation with drummer and multi instrumentalist SHOLTO.

Orkneyology Press

Orkneyology Press is an independent publisher specialising in memoirs, social history, archaeology, and folklore related to the Orkney Islands. As well as promoting the history and culture of Orkney, the founders’ mission is to preserve and publish works which traditional publishers may consider too risky or expensive. I have played a small but crucial role in this vision by proofreading Gregor Lamb’s geographical glossary A-Z of Orkney Placenames, and two collections of folktales: singer-songwriter Colin Urwin’s Madman’s Window, and the acclaimed storyteller and BBC broadcaster David Campbell’s Story Harvest.

Ben Jeapes – Ghostwriting Novels: A Guide for Ghostwriters and the Ghostwritten

Ben Jeapes, an experienced author who has been published under his real name and pseudonyms, provides a practical guide for those considering ghostwriting as a viable career and those considering hiring a ghostwriter, specifically for novels and narrative fiction. I assisted Jeapes by proofreading his manuscript towards the final stage of its production.

John Macgregor – The Mechanics of Changing the World

Long-time multiple award-winning journalist and writer John Macgregor challenged himself to not only analyse the myriad of crises which face humanity today (pandemics, climate change, war, money in politics, etc.) but propose solutions and structural reforms to the systemic roots of these issues. For my part, I copyedited and worked with Macgregor on resolving potential copyright issues with his thought-provoking book.

Stars for Europe

Stars for Europe (SfE) is a marketing initiative from a consortium of European poinsettia breeders, with activities currently taking place in 22 different countries. Poinsettias, indigenous to Central America and known as the ‘Christmas star’, are among the most popular flowering houseplants worldwide, and SfE supports their supply chain via promoting and securing their sale. I edited various promotional materials used by the SfE, including ones used at international press events.
